A Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR) program is a system of procedures to reduce fugitive emissions by locating and repairing leaking components. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), along with state regulatory agencies, have required the implementation of these programs since large-scale industrial companies work with thousands of components that may leak liquids or gases into the soil and atmosphere. The LDAR regulations require components to be monitored regularly to determine leakages. Once it is confirmed that a component is leaking, it must be repaired or replaced within a stringent time frame. Facilities may encounter several problems when planning and executing their LDAR program, such as:

  • Not properly identifying each one of the regulated components.
  • Difficulty in planning and executing inspections.
  • The high amount of resources needed to do on-site route verification with P&IDs, component tagging, and identification of components.

What is a Digital Twin?
  • A Digital Twin is a 3D digital replica of any physical asset, its behavior, and performance. The most prevalent form of a digital twin is achieved through 3D laser scanning and/or photogrammetry. A 3D laser scanning uses LiDAR technology to accurately capture real-world conditions and convert them into 3D digital models. On the other hand, photogrammetry uses photos taken from different positions then processing them to create a 3D digital model. These models are coupled with real-time and historical information in our web-based software suite, for a better understanding of the current assets condition and decision-making.
